The Rickenbacker 4030S Short Scale Bass is a punchy, fast-playing take on a classic silhouette, designed in collaboration with Jesse F. Keeler of Death From Above 1979. A solid maple body pairs with a neck-through maple and walnut core for lively resonance and long, even sustain, while the 30.5" scale adds a touch of snap and an easy, relaxed feel under the left hand. The rosewood fingerboard and dot markers keep things clean and familiar, and the slim 42.9 mm nut makes playing feel effortless. Finished in timeless Jetglo with white plastics, it looks great under stage lights and feels comfortable on the strap, tipping the scales at a comfortable 4.1 kg
Two Hot Toaster Top pickups give the 4030S its trademark clarity and midrange growl, moving from bright, percussive attack to weighty, melodic lines with a quick tweak at the amp. The neck-through build keeps notes focused right across the board, so palm-muted thump, picked riffs and fingerstyle runs all speak with authority. Hardware is rock solid: a RIC V2 tailpiece/bridge brings precise intonation and sustain, while Schaller M4 tuners hold pitch gig after gig. With mono output and a no-fuss control layout, this short-scale Rick is built to hit the stage running and reward a bold right-hand touch

The 4030S is designed and built around a 30.5" short scale that makes everything feel immediate and playable, from tight, percussive grooves to inticate melodic runs. The compact scale keeps stretches relaxed, while the slightly looser string tension adds a springy response under the fingers. Add the comfortable 42.9 mm nut and tidy dot markers, and you’ve got a bass that invites longer sets, faster lines and confident intonation.
A neck-through maple and walnut core runs the full length of the instrument, coupling to solid maple wings for a lively, unified voice. Notes ring out evenly right across the board, with piano-like sustain and a tight, focused fundamental that sits beautifully in a mix. The build also adds rock-solid stability on stage and in the studio, so your setup stays dialled, your intonation stays true, and your tone remains consistent from first rehearsal to final encore.
Two Hot Toaster Top pickups deliver the classic Rick blend of presence and punch: bright, articulate attack up top, a taut low end that doesn’t get muddy, and a vocal midrange that cuts without getting harsh. Dig in with a pick for snarling riff work, ease back for rounded fingerstyle warmth, or find your own sound somewhere in between! However you play, whatever your style, you'll find the tone and feel you're looking for.
