Key Features
The Aphex 124B Two Channel Audio Level Interface allows you to interconnect consumer and professional stereo audio equipment. This allows use of -10dBV consumers hi-fi equipment with +4 or +8dBm professional, industrial, broadcast audio systems. The Aphex 124B utilises servo-balancing, which ensures optimal performance. The Aphex 124B provides a clean, reliable two-way buffer so that both systems operate at their highest performance levels, matching both impendance and operating levels. Additionally, the Aphex 124B can act as a signal splitter to provide 2 high quality balanced outputs from a single unbalanced mono signal.

The Aphex 124B features servo-balanced inputs and outputs. This prevents high common-mode voltages such as induced hum from a nearby AC line, interfering with peak headroom. On the front panel is a switch that allows for input line termination when required. The input impedance of 100K ohms allows bridging over a 600 ohm balanced or unbalanced line with negligible loading effects. Because of the servo-balanced circuit design, the outputs can be used balanced or unbalanced at any time by grounding the unused pin. The servo compensates for any voltage loss of one side. The outputs are protected against short-circuits, to prevent damage if the wrong pins are grounded.
The Aphex 124B is a dual-bi amplifier designed to provide level impedance matching between consumer hi-fi equipment such as cd players, cassette decks, equalizer, and professional, industry audio systems. Due to different operating levels, it can be difficult to interconnect these systems. However, Aphex 124B solves all these problems. The Aphex 124B features a simple, high quality interface design, with a wide bandwidth and dynamic range, flawless square wave response, good common-mode rejection, and low distortion. The balanced inputs and outputs can go to a studio console, patch bay, or other line level equipment.
The Aphex 124B can be used for a couple of applications. It can be used as a two-way interface amplifier between consumer hi-fi and professional systems. It can also be used as a line driver. Due to the servo-balanced input and output stages, it can be used as an effective line driver for long lines. The output stage provides a short-circuit proof, low impedance source that is relatively unaffected by the impedance of the cable. Gain can be adjusted if the signal needs to be boosted. Additionally, the Aphex 124B can be used as a signal splitter, providing 2 high quality balanced outs from an unbalanced "Y"connector. The Aphex 124B uses recessed level controls, ensuring bump-proof operation.
