The Ibanez RG8620AH is part of the prestigious j.custom series, hand-crafted in Japan by Ibanez’s most skilled luthiers. Every detail is finely honed to meet the highest standards of quality, performance and aesthetics. From the select tonewoods to the immaculate fretwork and sleek finishing, this guitar is designed to exceed expectations. The j.custom label ensures not only top-tier components but also meticulous attention to fit and finish. It represents the pinnacle of Ibanez engineering and luthiery, offering an instrument that feels tailor-made the moment it’s in your hands.
At the core of the RG8620AH’s playability is the Super Wizard AS neck – a five-piece maple and wenge construction that’s optimised for fast, articulate playing. Its asymmetric profile is thinner on the treble side and slightly rounder on the bass side, delivering a natural, ergonomic feel for both lead and rhythm work. Measuring just 17mm at the nut and 19mm at the 12th fret, the neck is built for speed but never feels too flat or clinical. Paired with jumbo frets and j.custom fret edge treatment, this neck glides under your fingers and makes complex techniques like sweep picking, tapping and string skipping feel effortless.
This model is equipped with DiMarzio PAF Pro in the neck and The Tone Zone in the bridge – a dynamic combination capable of delivering pristine cleans, rich mids and searing leads. The PAF Pro offers clarity and balance with enhanced treble detail, while The Tone Zone delivers bold output with tight lows and pronounced upper mids. A coil-tap switch adds further tonal flexibility, letting you switch to single-coil-style textures for funk, pop or ambient work. From smooth jazz lines to tight rhythm chugs or lead tones that sing, this pickup setup adapts to your playing style with ease.
Designed with the working guitarist in mind, the RG8620AH includes premium hardware and thoughtful enhancements that support live performance. The Lo-Pro Edge tremolo offers buttery-smooth operation with rock-solid tuning thanks to locking studs and low-profile fine tuners. Gotoh machine heads provide tuning accuracy and stability, while Gotoh strap lock pins ensure your instrument stays secure during energetic sets. Luminlay side dots make it easy to navigate the neck on dark stages, and the included hardshell case offers robust protection. Finished in stunning Black Quartz with a Tree of Life inlay, this beauty was made to elevate your playing.
