Shape tone with tri-channel flexibility
The Sonic Sweep 2’s three fully sweepable EQ channels offer versatile shaping tools for detailed mix work. Two fully parametric high and low mid bands allow variable bandwidth adjustment from 3 to 1⁄12 octave, enabling both broad tonal sweeps and pinpoint frequency targeting. Shared 12 kHz high and 80 Hz low shelves, plus a dedicated 75 Hz 18 dB/oct low-cut filter, are tuned to classic console specifications. This combination delivers precise tonal balancing while preserving phase coherence, even when switching routing modes or applying aggressive cuts and boosts.
Bring mixes to life with analogue character
Every stage of the Sonic Sweep 2 is designed to emulate the signal path of classic 8-bus consoles. From the transformer-modelled inputs to the soft-clip fader amplifiers, the unit replicates the subtle saturation and natural breakup that make analogue gear feel alive. Console age modelling adds another layer, reproducing asymmetric distortion that changes over time, giving positive peaks lift and compressing negative peaks for a musical, organic feel. Dial in anything from a clean modern response to heavily aged vintage colour.
Flexible routing with energy-preserving blend
The parallel/serial engine lets you continuously morph between pure serial processing and true parallel summing, using an equal-power crossfade curve to maintain consistent output energy at every point in the blend. This makes it easy to achieve “bigger than both” textures, especially on drums, vocals, and layered instruments. EQ Flip mode can be engaged for cleaner, surgical processing by reducing console noise, while X2 gain and frequency switches extend the EQ’s range for more extreme sculpting when needed.
Classic console op-amp behaviour
The NJM4560 op-amp modelling captures the slew rate characteristics found in vintage consoles, applying them across four critical processing stages: EQ, fader, summing, and master output. This slew rate limiting subtly rounds transients, smooths highs, and introduces harmonic components that help elements sit more cohesively in a mix. Particularly effective on percussive material, this behaviour prevents the clinical sharpness of purely digital processing, ensuring a more natural, musical result without sacrificing clarity.
