Rock heritage
Captured in a legendary Los Angeles studio, the history filling the walls of the recording room cannot be understated. Steeped in rock and roll history, some of the most successful albums of all time have been captured in this exact room, using the exact drum kit featured in Fairfax Vol. 2, including the biggest grunge album of the '90s! A lively and characterful room, the Fairfax Vol. 2 ADpak is balanced and articulate, allowing every nuance of your drum performance to come to life in an exciting way. Perfectly positioned in the room, the vintage '60s Gretsch drum kit is balanced perfectly in frequency response with thunderous lows, defined midrange and smooth top end as well as in stereo spread, ensuring that each piece of the kit can be easily identified in the stereo field.
Captured using only the finest equipment available, Fairfax Vol. 2 produces ultra-high fidelity samples that suit any contemporary rock production. A collection of vintage and modern microphones has been used to capture the drums, giving you the ability to customise and blend yourself for maximum versatility with state-of-the-art hardware including a vintage 1960's discrete analog recording console.
Vintage, punchy tones
FairFax Vol. 2 features a '60s Gretsch "Round Badge" kit with 3-ply construction, giving your tones a more rounded and natural sound with shorter decay. Although they may be vintage drum shells, this doesn't mean your sound won't be hi-fi, packing a huge punch and balanced frequency response, the Gretsch Round Badge kit is perfect for all things rock! In order to cut through a dense wall of distorted electric rock guitars, bass and vocals, the Fairfax Vol. 2 features two staple snare drums of hard-hitting rock drums, a Ludwig Black Beauty and a Ludwig brass snare. Both chosen specifically for their cutting tone that will sit above a heavy mix and give the impact and punch needed to drive your music with movement and energy. Matched with a selection of custom hand-made cymbals, the Fairfax Vol. 2 produces a silky smooth top-end to keep in line with the vintage shells, creating a cohesive and glued together sound that is perfect for taking your rock productions to the next level.
Mix-ready presets
Crafted by some of the best in the business, the Fairfax Vol. 2 ADpak comes included with a huge selection of production-ready presets to insert the knowledge and expertise of world-class producers in your songs! Not content with the selection of presets available?
